to phantom and other bangkok experts -
where to eat the best sharksfin and seafood in chinatown?
also where the best beefballs soup noodles

then to shopping - where is suam lup night market
dont think i can stand chatujak in daytime - so hot

back to eating - where is dragon inn? seafood on roller skates?
anyone tried the dinner cruises on the river
any open air restaurant next to the river with good views?

For sharksfin soup in Chinatown, try this restaurant located at 457-461 Yaowaraj Road, Bangkok. I ate a few times and I love the other dishes as well. I can't say what the name of the restaurant is as the calling card is in chinese and thai. I read neither.
For open air restaurants along the Chao Phraya river, there are a few but I strongly recommend the Baan Klang Naam seafood restaurant. If going on fridays n weekends, I strongly suggest you call and make a reservation. This restaurant is located at Rama 3, Soi14 tel 02-2920175. Best for you to ask the hotel receptionist to write down the address in thai and show it to the taxi driver.
Another worthy mention is Supatra Restaurant which really has a great view and very 'high class' atmosphere. But be warned that the price will be much higher. Tel 02-4110305 for location n reservation.
One final word of warning, don't listen to the crap what the taxi drivers telling you that this certain restaurant is closed and he'll take you to another one. Don't ever believe them!

Last night, after going to the 'Irish X-change.', (Convent rd., off Si Lom rd. ), and watching the final of the 'Heineken Cup.', (Eu. Rugby Comp'n.), in wch. Muster beat Biarritz by 4pts., I went to 'Fresh Beach Boyz.', (Soi Twilight.), for their 2nd. perf., arrived at around 2330hrs. to find the place fairly full.
Drinks at 200Bh..
Several new faces amongst the R&F. a go-go boyz..
House lights dimmed at around 2345hrs..
1st. act - Four boyz in brief briefs danced while a ladyboi danced and lip-synched;
2nd. act - Four boyz in trad. type of 'Candle Show.';
3rd. act - Chantoosie/commedianne sang, but nothing too risque if one doesn't u'stand. TH.;
4th. act - Big C*ck Show, #4. and #54. are best endowed, several shewed quite std. sized TH. c*cks;
5th. act - Exciting Show 13.gif , #4. and another on stage, with latter dressed in black medieval style monk's hooded robe, wch. soon came-off as he smoked #4.. They were joined by #31. who took the part of the T*p, (#4. exited.), usual perf. but quite athletic using what eqpt. is avail. - but no rings etc. handing-down from ceiling.
Long i'vals. between indiv'l. acts..
Most patrons, such as me, and/or voyeurs left soon afterwards.

hi...any thai experts here know where can i get zen style / traditional thai style furnitures / decor in bangkok? Thanks.

for brandless stuffs, u gotta try Chatuchak (Mo Chit Station).
for well designed and comes with expensive label, Siam Discovery Centre is the one but they are *really* expensive even by our standard.

enjoy ur shopping.

From memory of last year there were too many speeches - give a TH. a mic. and it'll be blather, more blather and still more blather: OMG! sad1.gif - presentation of b'day. cake and small gifts in exchange, a special show of sorts.
My advice would be to go elsewhere where there'll beless talk and more action.

say PHAT KUAY TEOW...THai say the noun first...

hmmmm r u sure u get the thai grammar correct?

thai is the opposite of english.... we said fried kuay teow.... thai aid kuay teow fried (i.e. kuay teow phat).... another non food example.... khun thai (littleraly means people thai)

like khao phat -> fried rice... literally rice fried....
phat is actually means stir fried....

sea food fried rice -> khao phat talay...

phat thai is actually suppose to be (kuay teow) phat thai it means fried noodle thai style...

kuay teow is "generic" term for noodle....

for example if u order kuay teow nam (which means soup noodle), you will ask what kind of noodle....
sen lek (litterally mean small line) refer to the thin white noodle which normally we eat thai "style" beef noodle
ba mie refer to yellow chinese style noodle...

not sure what is our thick kuay teow in thai
also bee hon...
