The report, appearing in Thursday's China Press, a Chinese-language daily in Malaysia, told of a 50-year-old Malaysian woman who came to Singapore to search for her husband who had left her more than four years ago, forcing her to turn to loan sharks to raise her two children.

But when Mr Baey finally saw the article, he laughed. "Any reader who recognised me in the photo would know it must be a mistake." The report carried Mr Baey's photograph, identifying him as the husband, described as a "serial womaniser".

"The lady in question is in her 50s and her kids are already teenagers. It's impossible for me to be the father," he said with amusement, after he was shown the report by MediaCorp News, which had been alerted by a hotline caller. He was "not too bothered or angry" about the mistake.

The Malaysian daily has contacted him and offered to publish an apology, he said. "(They) told me they had lifted the story from Lianhe Wanbao. There was a technical error, some coding mistakes with the article and photographs. Also, China Press didn't do a thorough check."

The Lianhe Wanbao version carried a correct photo of the woman and her children.

Read in Wanbao that he posed in UK lifestyle magazine "Arena" (jan issue)....not shirtless lah....just in stylish fashion....article is about his views on lifestyle....i think they select him not b'cos of being MP but more of his drama background.

But then he became sort of like the 1st MP to do it.

Why be angry? Just because I dash the image of your idol? Like the star, it looks beautiful because it is so mysterious.

I am just not impressed with the above, and neither with his work so far. Yes, he does have the look, and I believe, like many people, he has the heart.

But I am quite sure he won't be happy with the attention on him here.

However nice he is outwardly has at least part to do with being a politician. Have met him a few times. Besides, he is a member of the PAP and one of its new "stars" which means he is a tacit member of a regime which is homophobic and refuses gays their human rights. Personally can't see much to admire about prople who condone such views.
