Still i think that it is high time for Streep to be rewarded for a third Oscar.

If you were impying that she only won because she is playing a legendary and iconic figure in England this really doesnt make much sense.
For your information Margaret Thatcher is not some beloved icon in the UK, in fact she is one of the most hated human being there, if Meryl can still win the BAFTA despite their general disdain for Thatcher this just goes to show how amazing her performance in The Iron Lady is, that they are willing to overlook their personal bias to reward a truly virtuso performace from a remarkable thespian.

i prefer meryl streep winning her oscar if it was her Bridges of Madison County performance or Cry in the Dark performance..... wrongly accused victims and pitiful characters always win hearts but she just couldn't get that Oscar in those performances.

Viola has BFCA + SAG and Streep has Globes + BAFTA
The last few times we had a somewhat similar race
1997 best actress Brenda Blethlyn (Globes + BAFTA) vs Frances Mcdormand (SAG)
1999 best actress Cate Blanchett (Globes + BAFTA) vs Gwyneth Paltrow SAG)
2003 best actress Nicole Kidman Globes + BAFTA)[/b] vs Renee Zelleweger (SAG)
2009 best actor Mickey Rourke (Globe + BAFTA) vs Sean Penn BFCA + SAG)
Looks like SAG is a slightly more accurate predictor than the globes, but really hoping for Meryl to pull off the win here; Viola is nothing special in The Help

you know something : the above statement maybe why meryl was nominated year after year... notice once most actresses won the oscar, their movie roles lessen, and after which almost never seen at the oscar again let alone being nominated.
meryl has 2 more movies coming year end, maybe she'll have another nomination next year?
i have a feeling viola davis will win! i dont hate her, she is quite an actress. i am just a bigger meryl's fan that's all.

i have just watched J. EDGAR...leo did an amazing job as j edgar hoover but wasn't nominated for any acting chop. for that matter, george clooney turned in a likable performance in THE DESCENDENTS at most, and was instead nominated. see what i mean?
ps - i am neither a fan of either actor, just a regular movie goer. the above was just a little thought of mine.
