anyway. meryl won! after 30 years, she finally makes it to the podium! i can't be happier.

this win also signifies and justifies that for so many years she has half(supporting actress) an oscar less than jodie foster, hillary swank and sally field and dustin hoffman, tom hanks etc etc etc... now she is in an elite group of ingrid bergman and jack nicholson. ha, i am so happy for her! she is just slightly behind the great kate hepburn now.

meryl won supporting role for kramer and kramer only!~

that means, technically speaking, she ONLY won 2 BEST ACTRESS trophies! that means that she is on par with jodie foster, hilary swank and sally field...... in sports, even if you win 4 silvers, you CANNOT beat 1 gold........ therefore, even if you win 2 supporting actress awards, it is NOTHING compared to 1 Leading Actress!

for individual outstanding performance by an actress, meryl deservedly win the oscar! the movie may not be a great biopic, but for performance and makeup... this movie is outstanding!

plus viola was fantastic in doubt but didn't win. this win will make up for her loss.

what logic? must compensate wan meh? then meryl lost for OUT OF AFRICA, A CRY IN THE DARK, BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, DOUBT, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, THE FRENCH LIENTENANT WOMAN... HOW TO COMPENSATE?
BESIDES, MERYL WAS IN DOUBT TOO AND LOST TOO WAT!

I'd rather Viola Davis win. Meryl Streep will get nominated again next year!

what's wrong with meryl winning this year and next year as well? next year “August: Osage County” will be another riveting performance by meryl!

Viola will win coz it's american-theme and The Help is all-american and the Picture was nominated.

if you lose, i get to fuck you?

I'm a big Streep fan but the Iron Lady is a rambling mess. And to me, Streep does not quite convey Thatcher's steely aloof tough-as-nails persona convincingly enough. She's gd in the senile years scenes but otherwise I feel like there's too much of a comedic hint in her expression.

not entirely true my dear... yes it is not a movie to showcase thatcher rise to power and her 11 years as PM... the director just wanna tell the story of the thatcher now - old, alone and senile but yet still strong and determine... meryl did a really good job! many has won the oscar best actress in a lesser role and poorer performance, many! for acting ability, for the 3 decades wait, MERYL MUST WIN AND DESERVEDLY SO!

she won't win lah. the movie stinks.

if she can win, anthony hopkins should have won for playing nixon and cate blanchett should have won for playing queen elizabeth. both played better than meryl. i feel like giving meryl a slap when i see that margaret thatcher face.

are you getting senile sableboy?
